Boost Your Home's Curb Appeal This Summer

With the start of summer just a few days away, we're fully immersed in the busy real estate season. If you're looking to sell your home, now's a great time to do it! But before you put your pad on the market, it's important to think about the first impression that home buyers are going to get from looking at your home exterior. Be honest - could your home use a little TLC on the outside? If so, there are lots of little things you can do to spruce up your curb appeal. Don't worry - it doesn't have to be a total exterior overhaul. Just a couple cans of paint and some bits of nature can easily beautify your home and wow local home buyers!
Show off those shutters.
Take a look at the details of your home exterior: shutters, awnings, doors, etc. A fresh coat of paint on these things doesn't take too long to apply but the payoff can be huge. Although, be sure to analyze the style of your home before choosing colors or textures. You want to make sure that whatever color and style you choose goes along with the way your home was originally designed. For example, a rustic home design would look awkward with brightly-colored shutters.
Trace the perimeter.
Another detail that should be updated is the fencing around your yards. If you have a white picket fence that's actually looking more like a gray picket fence, a fresh coat of paint can instantly bring your home's curb appeal up a few notches. If you have a chain-link fence, be sure to check that the links aren't warped and, if they are, take steps to fix them. Not only does it offer a fresh, clean look to your home, but it also communicates the safety of your home which can be a huge thing for certain buyers.
Your sale is blossoming.
Adding a few potted flowers and plants to the outside of your home is a great way to boost appeal. With the abundant sunshine and afternoon showers brought on by the season, a little extra greenery and color offers up a nod to summer. And, as a bonus, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything that doesn't look a little prettier with flowers garnishing it!
Unfortunately, in this housing market, there doesn't seem to be a magic bullet for selling your home faster. But, the more effort and care you take with the little things can really make a big difference to a buyer. Remember, you don't get a second chance to leave a great first impression! By making these three easy tweaks, you can make sure your home exterior shows on the outside just how great and unique it is on the inside!
